Cash or Credit?

I had excellent credit until my husband died. I found out afterward that he made some very bad financial decisions. We lived in a community property state, so I was liable for those. I have since moved and sold my old house. My credit rating is much worse now, as we were in foreclosure. My car is 16 years old, on its last legs and I’m shopping for a new one. I can pay cash for a used car. Should I let the dealer know that up front? Or will I get a better deal if I try to finance at what I know will be a very high rate…
