Is “internet sales” position a ripoff?

I recently got a job offer to do Internet sales for a local dealership and they said it’s $16/hr with a $50 “commission” with every lead converted, regardless of whether or not they buy a car. I feel as though this is far too low and that I could be making much more money doing actual auto sales. With the same base pay how much could I be making selling 2-3 cars a week as a sales rep?

EDIT: I’ve been informed this seems more like a BDC position, I will instead apply explicitly for the sales rep position and turn down any “internet sales” offer from this dealership
