Dealer bought a 2026 Corolla hybrid from auction without ownership, and put it up on their site. I went to look at it, paid the deposit, and am now waiting for ownership from the dealer. Dealer is saying either the auction house has it, or the original dealer has it – and they can’t tell me when they’ll get it. We’re opting to finance it and we’ve added it to our insurance but we’re sitting waiting for ownership.
Was the dealer allowed to sell us the car without ownership? How were they able to even buy it from auction without their proof of ownership?
