Recently purchased a vehicle in Ohio, I reside in New Jersey. I traded in a vehicle when I bought the new one and trade in was ~80% of the new vehicle’s price. When I go to the DMV to pay sales tax on this new vehicle, will the trade-in value offset the amount of sales tax I have to pay? Is there documentation I should bring to ensure I don’t get charged sales tax on the full amount for the car?
