Contacted salesman online to purchase a new vehicle. Explained I’d be paying cash (mistake?). Deal sheet emailed, price out the door looked right. Went to the dealership to finalize everything, and I ended up walking out. With $35,000 cash to spend elsewhere. It all went weird when they insisted on running my credit. It’s not great, hence why I’m paying full price upfront. They then wanted me to sign “a backup contract”. I’m paying cash. I offer to pay however they want— cashier’s check, ach, wire transfer.
